In 2015 the BBC history magazine rehearsed the book of an English historian, Toni Mount, dedicated to the study of English medieval medicine, Dragon's Blood&Willow Bark: The mysteres of Medieval ( Dragon blood and willow bark: the mysteries of medieval medicine ), in which it describes some strange remedies used by our ancestors, and among which we highlight 7.Do you care this walk through medieval medicine? It's super interesting!
1.The potion of St.Paul
Supposedly created by this saint, this potion was made by combining the following ingredients: ginger, licorice, sage, fennel, cinnamon , three types of pepper, cloves, cormoran blood, mandragora, roses and dragon blood.

This potion was used for epilepsy, catalepsy and stomach problems.
2.To treat pain caused by the sciatic nerve
An ointment was prepared with the following ingredients: a tablespoon of red ox gall, two tablespoons of pepper, four tablespoons of patient urine , somewhat cumin and another of sebum.
The ointment was put on a cloth and then placed on the patient as a kind of poultice...
3.For burns and scalds
It is suggested to take a live garden snail and pass it p or the affected surface. This idea about the medicinal use of the snail slime has been taken up in modern times; Recent research suggests that the slime has antioxidants, antiseptics, analgesic and healing properties. Here they were not so wrong.
4.To treat stye
Ingredients: onion, leek, garlic , wine and bull gall. The ingredients are mixed in a bronze pot and the mixture is left standing for nine nights. After straining the mixture is applied with a feather on the stye.

The hardest thing to achieve today would be gall of bull, but if you manage to find it, it could work if you get that annoying inflammation in the eyelid.Who knows!
5.For the drop
You take an owl, pluck it and clean and then cook it in a new pot, covered with a stone; Once cooked, mix it with wild boar fat and apply it to the sore area.Very easy!
6.For migraines
In half a barley plate add betonic, verbena and others herbs; you boil this mixture in water, dip a cloth in it and place it on your head or on the one who suffers migraines.

The betonic contains alkaloids that are extracted today for the treatment of headaches and migranas.
7.To treat angina
You take a fat cat, you skin it and remove its viscera; then, after this pleasant task, you fill the cat with hedgehog grease, bear fat, sage, honeysuckle and virgin wax.
You grab the stuffed cat, and while cooking you go collecting the fat that releases , and spread the sick with it.
Although some of these treatments incorporated ingredients with healing properties, there is no doubt that others were closer to sorcery than to medicine, so before attempting to prepare and apply some of these medieval remedies first consult a doctor. And maybe a psychologist is also needed...or a master magician, why not?
