Do you know how much garbage you generate each day? We make it easy for you, think about the purchase you made the last time you visited the supermarket, something normal: eggs, milk, some fruit, a few pieces of vegetables, some drinks, meat and fish, and now think about the containers in which all these products are sold. The eggs carry a cardboard and probably a plasticized cover; the milk comes in a tetrabrick or a plastic bottle; the pieces of fruit and vegetables, each in an individual bag of fine plastic; drinks in plastic or glass bottles and, finally, both meat and fish, will be carefully placed in a well-covered polystyrene tray with another plastic film, all in a simple purchase of basic products .Well now multiply all that waste for each of the homes in your city...Horrifying, right?
Where do all these wastes come from?
The habits of life and consumption have changed radically with respect to some decades ago.Our pace of life is getting faster, we need products here and now, we consume fast and to a much greater extent. The working hours are long , the pace of frantic life and our need to consume more and more.We don't have time to go to the market , to compare price and quality, or almost to make food-hence the food precooked every time it occupies more space in the shelves and showcases from the supermarket that, on the other hand now, opens almost 24 hours.

Paradoxically, parallel to the change in the pace of life that many psychological and nervous diseases cause today, we have begun to worry about our health and hygiene in general a somewhat obsessive way.Yogures that increase our defenses , milks and milkshakes enriched with proteins, vitamin complexes that help us have more energy and be healthier...A host of products with added properties that, when less according to their advertising, they help us to live better.
These two changes have meant that, on the one hand, we now want our products to be scrupulously packaged so that, at least in appearance, they give us a sense of hygiene , neatness, health; hence the unnecessary propagation of plastic wrappers with which all foods are offered; the more involved the less pollution .On the other, the dizzying speed of our lives, leads us to reduce extra worries; Now we don't have time to return glass containers to be reused, and the plastic is cheap and fast to produce (not to eliminate!), so, voila , all wrapped in plastics.
Zero waste? Yes, it is possible
In any case, we are all aware of the risks involved in generating so much waste and the path to which this rhythm of life of « use and throw
