A group of Chinese scientists has studied in depth a material that for centuries has been used for the realization of monochromatic paintings, representative of Asian art and culture.
Before this research took place It was unlikely that such a glutinous substance could become what medical science has been battling for decades.Well, as recent evidence suggests, it is possible that among its composition is the formula to develop an antidote that is useful in the search for a cure for cancer. We talk about traditional Chinese ink.
Traditional Chinese ink, the cure for cancer?
It was in traditional Chinese ink called Hu-Kaiwen, also known as' Hu ink 'or' Hu-Ink ', which scientists at Shanghai Fudan University found with the discovery.
The interest in pigment made with squid ink, carbon, roots of plants and oils vegetable, emerged after the researchers found similarities in their composition with respect to artificial nanomaterials used for photothermal therapies (an experimental use of electromagnetic radiation).
In this way, what It began to be a suspicion, it turned out that in laboratory tests it was also able to kill cancer cells. Just as substances handled in photothermal cancer therapies do, where nanomaterials are injected into malignant tumors , and continuously, with the use of laser, heat is exerted in order to eliminate them.
Before doing so with traditional Chinese ink, specialists would have been experimenting with other materials to replace those applied in this emerging treatment for others more effective and friendly to the organism.Among them, they tested with engineering of carbon and graphene nanotubes, which were ruled out as being toxic and complex to manufacture, in addition, expensive.
But with the ' ink-Hu 'the picture is promising.During laboratory tests on mice, they noticed that the dark color makes it optimal for the absorption of light and the heat of the laser. And not only this, at the same time it showed greater efficiency compared to the artificial nanomaterials used in photothermal therapies cas, as for the eradication of cancer cells, by increasing the concentration of Hu ink.
Which makes it much more attractive for its application in treatments aimed at the cure for cancer, is that is made with natural ingredients , so its elaboration is not expensive .On the other hand, is biocompatible with human cells, is not toxic and did not produce significant side effects in rodents.
Economical, natural and without side effects, does traditional Chinese ink sound good enough to start being taken in account in the cure for cancer? The team of Chinese scientists continues with studies focused on animals, but do not dismiss that it will soon be tested on humans.
It may be a strange material to associate in this type of treatment, but scientists are convinced that that the Chinese ink becomes the salvation of thousands of people who hope to recover their health with new and better medical discoveries. What do you think?
