A lot of super curious drinks circulate in the world today we want to talk about a super peculiar coffee and currently the most expensive in the world...the Kopi Luwak.
What is the Kopi Luwak?
Kopi means "coffee" and luwak " civet ".This coffee is made in many countries with different variants. Sumatra , Bali, Java, Celebes (Philippine Archipelago), Philippines, East Timor , Vietnam and in the South India .This coffee comes from nothing more and nothing less than the feces of the civet , a mammal Asian carnivorous, that if we had to describe we would compare with a mixture between a lion and a raccoon, although it is really curious.
This animal eat the coffee beans , only the fleshy part, leaving the beans almost intact after expelling them. The coffee is chemically modified by the enzymes of the stomach, adding the characteristic flavor and subtracting the natural bitterness of coffee. The feces are collected and sold. Then, they wash and roast gently so that they do not lose their characteristic flavor, less bitter than coffee and light chocolate and caramel flavor ; a flavor that persists on the palate.
It usually costs about 900 euros the Kilo , being the most expensive coffee in the world today. It is sold in Japan and USA although its sale is gradually expanding to capricious coffee more than peculiar.
